Saaf Pani Scam: NAB summons Shehbaz today

LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned today former chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif in Saaf Pani Company scandal.

A questionnaire comprising 25 questions has been prepared by the anti-graft watchdog for Shehbaz Sharif.

Director General of NAB Lahore in his briefing exposed that during Shehbaz’s tenure, the water plants costing 0.5 billion were reportedly installed at the additional cost of 1.5 billion. Four billion were given under the pretext of consultancy, he explained while adding that the company did new hiring on the orders of Shehbaz Sharif.

It is worth mentioning that today Shehbaz Sharif is flying to Karachi on a two-day visit to launch his party’s campaign for coming general elections from the metropolis.

As per details, the PML-N chief will land in the city today on a two-day visit during which he will meet party leaders and address public meetings. He will also hold meetings with businessmen.

Shehbaz will visit NA-249 constituency from where he is contesting the July 25 polls to woo constituents to vote for him.

Shehbaz has filed nomination papers for NA-249 Karachi. Earlier, the PML-N chief did an about-turn when he backtracked from a decision to contest the polls from Karachi’s three constituencies, including NA-248, NA-249 and NA-250.
