ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif on Friday remarked that some people are bent on delaying the upcoming general elections, which are scheduled to be held on July 25.
Addressing the media outside the accountability court conducting corruption proceedings against Nawaz Sharif and his family, the former prime minister said that such people appear before every election and termed the upcoming polls as “big election”.
“Ups and downs are a part of life. A person should try to stay happy all the time,” the deposed PM added.
Furthermore, veteran politician Javed Hashmi also reached the anti-graft court to receive Nawaz Sharif, saying that he came there to congratulate PML-N supremo as the party has completed its five-year tenure.
“Even though there was daily speculation that the government would end soon,” he remarked.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is the first time PML-N government has completed its five-year tenure despite coming into power thrice.
Hashmi further remarked that delaying elections will pose a threat to democracy.
“People who believe in democracy and vote for respect have struggled alongside [Nawaz Sharif],” the seasoned politician added.
