PML-N candidates ECP code of conduct

CHISHTIAN: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday issued notices to two Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidates for allegedly violating its code of conduct for general elections.

The Commission issued show-cause notices to as many as 15 election candidates, including two PML-N ticket holders – Ahsanul Haq and Chaudhry Kashif – to explain as to why action shouldn’t be taken against them over breach of the code of conduct.

Meanwhile, two candidates contesting the election independently in Chistian were asked to pay a fine of Rs50, 000 each after found guilty of violating the ECP code.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also been served a show cause notice  for violating the code of conduct during his Lyari visit.

Deputy Commissioner South issued the show-cause notice stating that the PPP chairman had not informed the district or police administration ahead of his rally in Lyari on July 1st.

According to the ECP’s code of conduct it is necessary for the politicians to inform concerned authorities three days in advance prior to their rallies.

The notice warned that action would be taken as per the law upon failure to submit a reply by the given date.
