ISLAMABAD: Rs 260m have been donated so far for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams, said Wapda Chairman Lt Gen (r) Muzammil Hussain on Friday.
The wapda chairman acknowledged the water crisis in the country and said that work has been initiated on reservoirs and implement a coherent water policy. He added that between $1.5 and $2 billion was being sought from external financiers.
In a meeting chaired by the wapda head, various sub-committees also presented their reports for land acquisition and resettlement programmes for both the dams as well as a policy for streamlining the work.
The security and coordination coupled with the finance sub-committee also presented their reports on the project.
