Farooq Sattar indicted for violating Loudspeaker Act

KARACHI: The city court on Wednesday indicted former convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr. Farooq Sattar in Loudspeaker Act violation.

The court indicted Sattar and others in one of the cases, related to Loudspeaker Act violation, on the charges which the convict has denied.

While adjourning the hearing until October 17, the court has summoned all witnesses to appear before the court in next hearing.

While talking to media outside the court, the MQM leader demanded that fake cases against his party workers should be quashed.

Drawing the attention of Premier Imran Khan and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, he suggested, reduction in gas and power tariffs will provide much relief to the public.

Dr. Farooq Sattar further stressed on the importance of restoring circular railway and said, owing to its due significance, the circular railway was incorporated into the CPEC related projects.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Asad Umar chaired a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC), according to a statement issued after the meeting, the consideration of proposal regarding tariff rationalization for power sector was deferred on the request from the finance and power divisions who asked for further time to deliberate the proposed revisions.

Also, Minister for Planning and Development Khusro Bakhtiar gave a statement yesterday that the government will expand the scope of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, but will reduce any unnecessary projects brought in by the previous government.
