KARACHI: Several parts of Karachi experienced power cuts in wee hours on Tuesday as power supply was suspended due to tripping of transmission lines.
The areas that reeled under the breakdown in electricity supply included North Nazimabad, Liaqatabad, Saddar, Gulbahar, Azizabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, old city area, Malir, Clifton, Defence and Steel Mill.
A spokesperson for K-Electric said efforts are underway to resolve technical problems so as to restore the power supply at the earliest.
Some parts of Karachi are experiencing interruption in power supply due to tripping in our EHT network. Few affected areas have already been restored whereas teams are working to normalize remaining areas as soon as possible. Please check back with us in one hour for next update.

Update: Restoration work continues to progress in affected areas. Power supply to airport and key hospitals such as Lyari, Civil and Jinnah ensured; remaining areas to be normalised soon.

This is the second major power breakdown in less than two months’ time to hit the port city.
