Coastguard and Border Force patrols dealing with ‘incident’ in English Channel

BORDER Force officials are investigating after an “incident” in the English Channel overnight.

HM Coastguard is currently assisting.

A HM Coastguard spokesperson said: “HM Coastguard is currently assisting Border Force with an incident in the Dover Channel.”

The BBC has reported a “number of migrants” have been picked up from a boat in the water.

Reports have suggested there were about seven people in the boat.

It is understood the incident happened in the early hours of this morning.

The Home Office has been contacted.
