DUBAI: Third day of the second test match between Pakistan and New Zealand kicked off belatedly as it started to drizzle in Dubai right before the play.
New Zealand were 24-0 at the end of the second day after Haris Sohail’s flabbergasting 147 and Babar Azam’s undefeated 127 helped Pakistan achieve a formidable total of 418-5.
Kiwis played nine overs and were 24-0 before the second day was called off two overs earlier.
Opening batsmen Jeet Raval and Tom Latham were unbeaten on 17 and 5 respectively.
New Zealand won the first test by four runs following a nip and tuck game.
Opener Sohail and Azam improved on their previous career-bests of 110 and 99 against Aussies in the previous series last month.
Sohail and Azam together added 186 for the fifth wicket. Both the batsmen added 82 to the scorecard between lunch and tea, scoring faster than the previous sessions.
