JOHANNESBURG: South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final Test against Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
The green shirts, who had lost the first two Tests, will be looking to dodge the shame of whitewash. Spinner Shadab Khan and bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf might join the 11-member playing squad to tame the uncontrollable Proteas.
Meanwhile, in the opponent’s camp, Zubayr Hamza will likely replace du Plessis after he was suspended for the slow-over rate in Cape Town test.
Speaking at a presser, former captain Azhar Ali said that “we are hopeful to present our A game in the final Test”.
In case of a whitewash over green shirts, South Africa will move up to the second rank on the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings, which according to Elgar, stand-by Proteas captain, is a “massive opportunity”.
